There’s no wrong season to experience Tahoe. Whether you’re chasing powder days, sunny hikes, lake adventures, or cozy cabin nights, we’ve gathered our favorite local recommendations to help you make the most of your stay. Explore Tahoe like a local — season by season
Hop aboard a Tahoe Blue sailboat for a breezy cruise across the lake. Feel the wind fill the sails as you drift past hidden coves and towering peaks. It’s the perfect mix of relaxation and classic Tahoe magic.
Pick up a cruiser or an e-bike from Tahoe Bike Co. (they also have a bike for the whole family to ride on!) and roll your way down the scenic Pope–Baldwin bike path. It’s an easy, beautiful ride through tall pines and meadows, with plenty of shade and fresh mountain air. Pedal out to Camp Richardson and reward yourself with an ice cream cone from the general store—it’s a classic Tahoe summer outing.
Start your morning on calm, glassy water—Tahoe at its most peaceful. Launch from Baldwin Beach, Pope Beach, or Camp Richardson and glide across turquoise shallows surrounded by mountains. Mornings are usually the calmest, so head out early and soak it all in.
The Meyers Mountain Market pops up every Wednesday evening at Paradise Park, and the Ski Run Market runs every Friday evening. Both have tons of local vendors, artisans, good food, and laid-back Tahoe vibes. Bonus: each market is next to a playground, so kids stay entertained while you shop.
South Lake Tahoe summer nights are all about live music and cool lake breezes. Check out the weekly concerts at Lakeview Commons or catch big-name shows at Harveys Outdoor Arena. Dancing under the stars with the lake behind you is a Tahoe summer must.
Golden light, gentle waves, and maybe a cocktail in hand—this is peak summer. Round Hill Pines is a favorite sunset spot, with beachside chairs, a friendly beach bar, and restaurant with wide-open lake views framed by distant mountains. Pro tip- they top charging for parking at 5 pm!
Just past Camp Richardson, this beautiful alpine lake feels peaceful and tucked away. Wander along the shoreline, jump in for a refreshing swim, or grab a snack at the marina. It’s a quieter, more local-feeling escape from the busier beaches.
Take the Heavenly Gondola up from the Village for breathtaking lake views. At the top, you can hit the ropes course, zip line, or hop on the mountain coaster for a dose of summer adventure high above the trees.
No trip to Tahoe is complete without a stop at Emerald Bay. Hike down to explore Vikingsholm Castle, paddle out to Fannette Island, or simply take in the view from Inspiration Point. It’s the most photographed spot on the lake—and once you’re there, you’ll understand why.
